Dear Oblates, Animators and Sodales,

All three Institutes and many members of the Pro Sanctity Movement were united in St. Patrick’s Church, Fremont, Nebraska on April 4, 2002! It was a night we will not forget for a long time and I would like to share again a few reflections that came to me after that wondrous night.

Our celebration was truly a celebration. Full, full, full. It was amazing. We thought - being a school night - that not that many people would come and surely would not stay, but they did come and did stay. So many of our members, friends and supporters showed up, stayed and celebrated with us.

We had 18 priests on the altar. We welcomed four new Apostolic Sodales priests, Fr. Mark, Fr. Carl, Fr. Tom and Fr. Gregor (who is from Illinois). They joined the other four commitment priest members and in the end all 8 Apostolic Sodales priests spread across the sanctuary. They looked wonderful, standing side by side, each with a new stole that had imprinted on it the image of our Lady of Trust. It seemed to me an answer to these terrible times that we are living, where so many of our priests are suffering. Their commitment said to me, "We will trust and have faith. God is in charge and we will journey in holiness together!" It was my greatest joy to hear their Yes to the Lord.

Our newly committed men, for the Social Animators, Mike, James and Thomas joined Simon Ommachen (already committed) and they were radiant. They said YES to bring holiness into the structures of society, an awesome task, but God will use their availability.

Four new married women, Donna, Jeanne, Sandy and Peggy said YES to beginning the journey of formation. It seemed very appropriate that we could "hear" their children scrambling around in the pews at the back of Church! Their families added the "family sound" reminding us of their call to holiness for and in their families and in society.

Finally, Sue, who took her first vows as an Apostolic Oblate, was beautiful! She stood before the altar and offered her life as a woman dedicated to living, promoting and heralding the universal call to holiness. We were all inspired.

We were especially grateful for the presence of Fr. Paul Cardona, the International Moderator of the Apostolic Sodales from Italy and our own Fr. Mike Murphy, USA National Moderator of the Apostolic Sodales from California; for the Apostolic Oblates who flew in from New York, and for our California Oblates who drove in from Fullerton! It should be noted that we had Pro Sanctity members and friends from Minnesota, Kentucky, South Dakota and God only knows from where else, we lost track after awhile! It was a "heavenly celebration". All members were present and united for the same purpose and ministry of living and proclaiming the call to holiness. The world will never be the same after a night like this. Never!

Thanks again for all your prayers, support, sharing...If you were not there with us in person, we know you were with us in spirit. It was a great day for the Pro Sanctity Family and its three Institutes and for the Church at large! The Lord is raised, he is truly risen! Alleluia!! Let us stay united in prayer and in zeal to live and spread the call to holiness!
