Sacrifice can bring things back to life

As we all prepare for lent, the first thing that springs to mind is what  sacrifice will I make this year?  I am sure that most of you have thought about it, but I would invite you to think a bit more.  Our challenge for you is to use your imagination and in 50 words or less tell us:

If Jesus came back today, what would he give up for Lent?

Send it to us @

Winter snowflakes are great fun to create.  As a child, I spent hours folding and cutting them.  Then I would tape them in the windows so that it looked like was always snowing.

Why not add a prayer request, a person's name, or a blessing to each snowflake?  What a great reminder!

Prayer Jar-- You will need a clear jar, any size or shape.  Place it on a nightstand or table and each time you remember to pray, place a coin in the jar.  When the jar is full of coins, decide as a family which charity will receive your money saved in

Easter Tree--At the beginning of Lent each year, my Mom would take a small dead branch from the woods.  She would "plant" it in a bucket of sand, cut leaf and

flower shapes and put them in a bowl at the base.  Each day after school, we would write down on one of those leaves or flowers, a good deed we had done and tape it to our "Easter Tree".  Great deeds received special butterflies or other creepy crawlies set on the branches.  By Easter, the tree was full of life and a great reminder: Sacrifice can bring  things back to life.
